Galatians 5:22-23 (WEB)

The nine fruits

  • Love: Love in Galatians 5 is the self-giving kind: choosing someone else's good, even when it costs you.
  • Joy: Joy is a deep gladness rooted in God, not in circumstances.
  • Peace: Peace is wholeness: a settled heart with God that steadies you inside and helps you mend things with others.
  • Patience: The Greek word literally means 'long-tempered'.
  • Kindness: Kindness is goodness turned outward in warm, practical care.
  • Goodness: Goodness is integrity in action: doing what's right, and doing good, even when it's costly or no one is watching..
  • Faithfulness: The World English Bible translates this word as 'faith' in Galatians 5:22, and many translations render it 'faithfulness'.
  • Gentleness: Gentleness is strength under control.
  • Self-control: Self-control is the inner strength to say no to what harms you and yes to what's good.

Nine practice plans, nine tools

  • Love: See Them. Choose one person. Notice what they're carrying, name what they need, and plan one concrete act of love.
  • Joy: Gladness Jar. Drop in small, specific moments of gladness. On a heavy day, shake the jar and reread one.
  • Peace: Hold or Carry. Write down a worry. Decide honestly: is there a next step that's mine to do, or is this something to hand over?
  • Patience: The Pause. Hold the circle while you breathe through a moment of frustration. Let go early and it gently resets.
  • Kindness: Unseen Kindness. Choose a quiet act of kindness, do it without telling anyone, then mark it done. Only you will ever see this list.
  • Goodness: The Right Thing. Talk yourself through a real decision with four honest questions, then commit to what you'll do.
  • Faithfulness: Small Promises. Make one small, specific promise with a date. When the day comes, mark it honestly: kept, renegotiated or missed.
  • Gentleness: Soften It. Paste or type a message before you send it. Soften It points out harsh patterns on your phone, then you rewrite it in your own words.
  • Self-control: Urge Delay. Name the urge and start a short delay. When it ends, make a conscious choice instead of an automatic one.

FAQ

What are the 9 fruits of the Spirit?

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, listed by Paul in Galatians 5:22-23 as the character the Holy Spirit grows in every Christian.

What is the Fruit of the Spirit test?

A free, 2-minute test of 27 everyday situations, three for each fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. It shows your strongest fruit and the one that's still growing, as a Fruit Wheel you can share.

Is the test a measure of my faith or salvation?

No. It's an optional reflection based on everyday behaviour, meant to help you notice which fruit you'd like to practise more. It isn't a measure of anyone's faith, salvation or worth.

Is it suitable for kids and families?

Yes. Choose a Beginner, Teen or Adult reading style. Optional Family Mode adds conversation cards and moments to play together, and asks for a grown-up before purchases or web links.

Each day brings a real-life moment: you choose what you'd do, see what happens, read what the Bible says in plain words and pick one small thing to try. Help Me Practise covers 18 everyday struggles like anger, worry and forgiveness. There are nine five-stage practice plans with hands-on tools, four practice games, family conversation cards, a private journal and an orchard that grows from what you actually do. Which Bible translation do you use?

The World English Bible, a modern public-domain translation, quoted word for word.

Is it Catholic or Protestant?
